Want to be able to easily connect with other recreational rowers without having to keep track of an ever-changing stream of email addresses? Wish there was an easier way to share in the teasing of the people who row the Snow Row?

Just sign up for the IROW group on Yahoo Groups. (Yahoo Groups is a free service that makes it easy to connect via email with individuals who share a common interest.)

1. Go to http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/irow/. Click "Join This Group!"

2. Set up a free Yahoo account, if you don’t already have one. (Just follow their instructions. Those of you who already participate in the ROWINGMASTERS group or other groups on Yahoo can use their existing Yahoo account to join this new group.)

3. Request to join the group.

From that point on, you can email everyone in the group simply by sending an email to irow@yahoogroups.com. You have the option of receiving group emails as they are sent, in a single digest (list) of messages once a day, or not at all if you’d prefer to go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/irow to read the messages.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

If you’re creating a Yahoo account for the first time, be sure to edit your marketing preferences to say NO to everything. This will limit the amount of advertising and SPAM that you receive.
As an anti-spam measure, IROW has been set up as a "closed group"---only members may send emails to the group and a moderator must approve new members. We have also established two moderators - Blake Doyle and myself - so that we won't have to start another group if one of us gets hit by a bus (or, more likely, a lobster boat).
